Terratorium

Terratorium began with a performance of a female body in a long black dress, doing yoga postures with two sandbags. The printed photographs and collages re-make some of the body postures and movements tested during the performance.
In its sculptural, material articulation, Terratorium also contains 45 terracotta and oxide discs. Their surfaces are covered by the handprints of its fabrication and etchings of the artists´s writings, referring to the multilayered relation between their creative work and the maternal labour.
This work explores the idea of territory coded in femininity, as a situated and embodied experience where the power relations , and its borders, vary over time. A Terratorium conceived simultaneously as a place for grounding and continuous motion, moulded through physical labour, desire and care.

Terratorium comienza con la performance de un cuerpo femenino en un largo vestido negro, realizando posturas de yoga con dos sacos de arena. Las fotografías impresas y los collages reconstruyen algunas de las posturas corporales y movimientos que surgieron de esta acción en vivo.
Parte de la obra son también los 45 discos de terracota y óxido negro. Sus superficies están cubiertas por las huellas de las manos que los fabricaron. También contienen palabras encontradas en los textos de artistas, refiriéndose a la relación entre su trabajo creativo y su labor materna.
Esta obra explora la idea de territorio en clave femenina, como una experiencia situada y encarnada. Un Terratorium concebido simultáneamente como lugar de arraigo y de transformación, moldeado desde la labor física y el deseo, las relaciones de poder y el cuidado.
